Benning Brothers (BBL) were contacted at an early stage by Canterbury College (CC) regarding a design and build enquiry that they had at their Sheppey Campus back in August 2016, where CC needed an additional covered area to accommodate the growing number of students on their carpentry & brickwork courses ready for September 2017.
BBL provided cost & planning advice whilst working within a set timeframe and budget to deal with this bespoke project on a design & build basis. This included obtaining the necessary planning approval & building regulation consent to ensure full compliance, before commencing the works on site. The design & statutory approvals were concluded between January & April 2017 allowing the project to commence on site Monday 29th May 2017, which included demolition & enabling works, followed by new foundations & external works. This preparation work ensured that the prefabricated building could be erected quickly & efficiently. The internal fit out works included power, lighting, heating & a fire alarm system to accommodate all of the employer requirements. BBL handed the building over 6 weeks later to enable the College to prepare the building ready for the 2017/18 term.
