Progress continues at our Former Debenhams redevelopment project in Chatham, where BBL are nearing the final stages of strip out and demolition works.
The remaining roof structures have now been safely removed, marking a major milestone as works reach completion.
This has been one of our more technically challenging projects, not only due to the size and central location of the building, but also because of the extensive health and safety procedures required to protect both our team and the public.
To remove the remaining plant and equipment from the roof, a complex lifting plan was produced including temporary road closures, traffic management and car park closures adjacent to the site to facilitate the crane lift — all carefully planned and coordinated to ensure maximum safety and minimal disruption to the public and surrounding businesses.
We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to the Medway community, local businesses, and commuters for their patience and cooperation during this time. Your understanding has allowed us to complete these high-risk works safely and efficiently.
At BBL, health and safety always come first. Every project presents unique risks, but the scale and complexity of this one have required our entire team to remain especially vigilant and committed to best practices.
Stay tuned for further updates as we move closer to completion.
